JDR Solutions Transitions Data Center Operation to n|Frame

Because of industry regulations calling for increased data security, equipment lease and loan portfolio servicer JDR Solutions (JDR) recently transitioned its data center operation to n|Frame. This move will allow the company to better safeguard its customers' confidential financial data and grow its business without significantly increasing technology investments.

After evaluating the cost of expanding its internal data center, JDR determined it was in its, and its customers', best interests to move its technology equipment to a professional facility that excels in data protection, systems monitoring, environmental control and power redundancy. All of these factors impact the security, availability and resiliency of the technology systems critical to JDR's business. Through the new partnership JDR is able to effectively leverage n|Frame's investment in a $15 million top-tier data center and highly-experienced team of computer engineers to offer its customers a safe and secure environment to house and manage sensitive data.

"Our customers outsource their data centers to us when technology becomes critical to their operation, but it is not their core competency," said Robert J. Alcorn, chief operating officer for n|Frame. "We allow companies to leverage our infrastructure and experience to support and propel their business without the costs, frustrations and constant management required to maintain an in-house data center. JDR is a prime example of a company that decided to invest its assets into strategically growing the business, rather than managing the technical details that fuel it."

When JDR first considered making improvements to its existing data center, it estimated that the project would require an initial investment in excess of $50,000. Even with basic upgrades, JDR realized that it would not be able to meet its customers' data center requirements due to office space limitations.

JDR's data center requirements for meeting customer needs and stringent industry standards include:

  • Sophisticated security procedures
  • Environmental controls such as temperature, humidity and fire suppression
  • Redundant power to minimize downtime
  • Professional staff to monitor systems 24/7
  • Ability to expand gradually or at a moment's notice

"Our customers demand that we have a clear process for preserving the integrity of their data in a secure data center environment," said John Schaffner, president of JDR Solutions. "It was imperative that we find a business partner like n|Frame in order to meet the requirements of our customers as well as the financial industry. Because of the cost-prohibitive nature of expanding our internal data center, n|Frame was the logical choice. Its facility and team go beyond any level of scrutiny for security, availability and resiliency without the costs and liability associated with maintaining an in-house data center."

With n|Frame's data center as its new hosting environment, JDR now has a controlled environment for the storage and management of its technology equipment, servers, switches, and security devices, as well as business-class Internet bandwidth service.
